92 Days Until Football: Podcast - Does the timing of the Zenger firing make sense?

I’m joined by Mike to talk stadium renovations and the implications of the Zenger firing.

NCAA Football: SE Missouri State at Kansas Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

The main challenge in coming up with 100 topics to discuss for Kansas Football is to find topics that are relevant, interesting, and not something we have already beaten to death. Given that we haven’t properly discussed the Zenger firing yet, we attempted today to toe the line between new analysis and regurgitation. Throw in some stadium discussion with the “Raise The Chant” campaign that Zenger started, and I think we’ve effectively put a bow on the outstanding discussion points for Zenger. I can promise in future episodes that his mentions will be much decreased.

But don’t let that description scare you off. We reminisce about some of the missteps in past improvement projects, and talk about what we expect to see this summer and fall as it relates to the AD search and the expectations surrounding the football program.

And just an FYI, the Azubuike decision came down after this was already recorded, but we’ll make sure to talk about it on the next episode.

Topics discussed:

-David’s reaction to Zenger’s firing.

-Speculating as to the reason for the timing of his firing.

-Is there an “ideal” time to fire an athletic director?

-What is the rationale behind a multi-million dollar renovation now?

-Will any of these upgrades actually help the team directly?

-Any concern about losing the view in the south end zone?

-What are we looking for in the next AD?

We want your input on the podcast. If you have something you would like to talk about on the podcast, or any suggestions for people that we should try to talk to, let us know by emailing us at rctsbn@gmail.com or on twitter @rockchalktalk.
