KU Predictions: vs Texas

We look at today's game with a wary eye.

Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

It hasn’t been a very good couple of weeks for this squad, but they will look to get back on track at home today. Unfortunately for them, the opponent is a hot Texas team that just knocked off a top 10 opponent on the road.

mikeville: Hopefully, Kansas has their issues from the past four games figured out. The question is, who is willing to actually predict it? The crowd will be especially fired up for Shaka Smart’s first game in Allen Fieldhouse, but who knows what effect that will have on the players. I’m gonna go ahead and say that yes, the players will be fired up - for a myriad of reasons. Bill Self says they haven’t practiced well but that he thinks he’s figured out why. However, another sluggish game and maybe we will indeed have reason to panic. But not me, not yet: Kansas 88, Texas 72.

Winmore: I don’t know if it’s sports fatigue given the Royals crazy run to a title followed up by the Chiefs win streak starting right on the heels of that, but I’m having a hard time finding a reason to panic about the Jayhawks. I get it. That epic game against Oklahoma had everyone dreaming Final Four, but truth is any team as jump shot reliant as this 2015-16 ‘Hawks team is gonna have games where they throw up more bricks than Bill Self drops "uh, uh, uh, uh, uhs" in interviews. The offense will bounce back. The three ball will fall again. A lot of season left to play. It will be interesting to see how KU handles Texas’ press after looking like garbage against West V’s pressure. Kansas doesn’t lose at home, in conference. Texas is beatable. The real drama isn’t whether Kansas can keep its conference home winning streak alive. Rather, it’s the question of will Self let Bragg and Diallo play? Those kids are starting to get blood clots from all that sitting. Kansas 69, Texas 52

dnoll5: Man, I’m glad that everyone has taken the last few days to remind me that Shaka Smart is a genius and the rest of us are all just moronic basketball dum-dums. I’d almost forgotten. Even when his team gets smoked by Kansas, I’m sure we’ll be hearing the "but wait until he gets his recruits in" lines. Either way, this is the game that KU gets its mojo back. So who really cares, anyway? Kansas 77, Texas 59.

NineToesBlogging: Not really sure what a players only meeting will do but unless this team shows a little more energy than we could be in for a long, dramatic game. Since the OU game Kansas has looked very lethargic. With that being said I expect the Jayhawks to play with a very aggressive approach and I am looking for a KU squad that will put the foot on the gas and make this as painless as possible. Kansas 81 Texas 67.

Fizzle406: I'm really suspecting some of the key players are battling injuries. Hurt or not, I expect KU to take care of business today. Get that nick-wright-wearing-his-dad’s-suit looking guy outta here! Kansas 77, Texas 60

misterbrain: Texas concerns me, but most of their big performances have come at home, and KU has yet to let one slip away at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas can’t afford to let this one get away if they want to keep the streak going. Kansas 79, Texas 72.
