Cummings gives Jayhawks a boost through the air |

During last week’s 27-20 loss to Oklahoma State, junior quarterback Michael Cummings, in his first start since 2012, completed seven passes of 17 yards or longer, including a 51-yard hook-up with senior receiver Nick Harwell on the Jayhawks’ second drive. The seven completed passes down the field marked just two fewer than the Jayhawks had recorded during the previous five games combined.

A year ago, Reynolds led the Jayhawks with a team-high 6 1/2 sacks — a number that qualified as a near sack party in Lawrence. But his recent run has been particularly important. In six games, the Jayhawks have managed just 10 sacks. And after Reynolds’ four sacks, no other Jayhawks has more than 1 1/2 sacks.

Lee, an ardent Royals fan who lives in South Korea, made his first trip to Kauffman Stadium in August. During his visit to Kansas City, Lee became a celebrity as he visited all parts of the area. The Pine Tar Press blog noted that filmmaker Josh Swade is in Korea and plans to meet with Lee’s employer in an effort to give him the time off to return for the World Series.
