Kansas Jayhawks News and Notes 9.16.13

Really disappointed about the game Saturday.  If not for the Chiefs on Sunday, I'd be starting to look ahead to basketball season.

Box score breakdown: KU's running game against Rice wasn't what we're used to | The Newell Post |

How much of that was caused by the Rice D seeing our receivers couldn't catch?

Kansas football afflicted with dropsies |

Sounds like there should be some medication for that.....

Rice O-line coach, former KU aide John Reagan sees promise in Jayhawks' D-line |

How much of this is just the opponent being a gracious winner?  And how much of that reaction is me jumping off the deep end with the loss?

Kansas linebacker Heeney glum, mum |

He shouldn't be so glum. His play was fantastic.

Lone-star letdown: Offense disappoints in KU's 23-14 loss to Rice |

This pretty much sums it up

Opinion: Charlie Weis too ambitious in trying to balance coaching, coordinating |

I'm not sure it's ambition. I think he is trying to install his gamelan instead of playing completely off his team's strengths. However, the gamelan would have worked out pretty well if receivers had held on to the ball.

Game Balls and Gassers: Rice |

Really the only units that played poorly was the receivers and the OL. Obviously huge holes, but everyone else played fairly well.

Sunday Rewind: KU's Pierson still looking for more touches in new role -

This was what baffled me the most about the game. Pierson showed that he could contribute, but I didn't see many times where he was actually the first target.

Ben Heeney leads defense, rankings | The Keegan Ratings |

Heeney was most definitely a beast.

KU hoops Boot Camp starts today |

Should be interesting to hear of HCBS and some of the vets think that only 1 week of not camp changes how effective it is.

Lakers give Xavier Henry a shot |

Glad to see him get another shot.
