Kansas Jayhawks News and Notes 10.15.13

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Lots of basketball news today. There are a few articles from a couple days back that I don't think we've put up here yet, but were too good to pass on completely.

Kansas Football

14-and-O(U): Stoops’ Sooners perfect after Rivalry | KUsports.com

Not that our chances were looking good here anyway, but Texas didn't do us any favors by blowing out the Sooners.

Opinion: Kansas defense showing progress | KUsports.com

Definitely lots of defensive progress.  Unfortunately, college is largely an offensive game.  There are so many good offenses that no matter how good your defense, cracks  will be found eventually.

KU, Baylor to kick off at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 | KUsports.com

Night game will be nice to have. I'll actually get to watch.

Kansas Basketball

Full practices. Two-a-days.  Basketball season approaches rapidly. CAN'T WAIT!

Starting 5: Wayne Selden and other lasting impressions from Kansas - NCAA Basketball - Sporting News

The more I hear about all the talent we have on the roster, the harder it gets to temper my expectations for the year.  Am I the only one thinking that anything less than a Final Four is a failure for the year?

Patient in approach, Andrew Wiggins on fast track to big-time success - NCAA Basketball - Sporting News

Wiggins has the skills of a superstar, but the attitude of a role player.  He knows he can help his team win if he plays his role.  That role just happens to be taking over games with his freakish athleticism.

JaQuan Lyle: Fit, not just friendship, will determine my destination - NCAA Basketball - Sporting News

While he is by all accounts a great player. I'm actually a bit relieved that they aren't a definite package deal.  If Lyle comes to KU, I'll embrace him like any other Jayhawk. But it's starting to look like he may not have as big of a role in the team as originally thought, with so many other high recruits leaning this way.  I wouldn't want his  potential decision to go elsewhere to unduly sway Alexander in his decision.

I understand zero-tolerance policies, but isn't this taking it just a little too far?
