The Kansas Jayhawks survived a pesky TCU Horned Frog squad to start Big 12 play with a win. A back and forth game which saw constant lead changes finally ended in KU’s favor at the very end. Kansas struggled to control the ball and committed 18 turnovers to TCU’s 9, which kept the Horned Frogs in the game.
Hunter Dickinson unleashed a monster 30 points and 11 rebounds and led all scorers in a game that saw him matched up with former Jayhawk Ernest Udeh. Udeh scored 2 points in 21 minutes of play.
TCU guard Trevian Tennyson was the leading scorer for the Horned Frogs with 24 points including 6/8 from three point range.
The story of the game will inevitably be the flagrant foul on Udeh with a minute left. Udeh smacked Dickinson with his forearm while securing a loose ball. After a few minutes of review, referees shocked the broadcast crew by calling a flagrant 1 on Udeh. The play which broke up a 4 on 5 fast break for TCU resulted in Kansas coming back to win the game.
