After weeks of speculation, the wait is over for Kansas fans. The Kansas Jayhawks will travel to Phoenix to play the UNLV Rebels in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl December 26th.
UNLV finished the season with a 9-4 record with a recent loss to Boise State in the Mountain West Championship game. The Rebels are led by freshman quarterback Jayden Maiava who took over the starting role midway through the season. Running back Vincent Davis Jr had a 722 rushing yard season to lead the Rebel backfield while Ricky White took most of the receiving yards with 1,386. The Rebels have played in a total of 5 bowl games in school history.
This will be the Jayhawks’ second appearance in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. The first came in 2008 with a 42-21 win over Minnesota.
Per the Fiesta Bowl website:
All tickets purchased for the 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl support Fiesta Bowl Charities and its mission to enhance the cause of Arizona nonprofits through its three pillars of youth, sports and education. Fiesta Bowl Charities has granted nearly $20 million in charitable giving over the last six years alone.
RCT will have complete coverage of the game as it approaches. For now, the Jayhawks can get some more practice sessions in while fans can seek a break from the cold winter weather in sunny Phoenix Arizona.
