The Kansas Jayhawks laid an egg in the second half against Eastern Illinois Tuesday night but managed to escape with a 71-63 win. After going into the break with a 13 point lead, the Jayhawks couldn’t get anything going on the offensive end and allowed the Panthers to come within 1 point.
Hunter Dickinson lead all scorers with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Kevin McCullar picked up 18 points. KU shot 21% from 3 in the game in contrast to 41% by EIU.
For the Panthers, senior guard Tiger Booker came off the bench to drop 20 points on Kansas.
Kansas will have to pull it together by Friday as defending national champion UCONN comes to Lawrence. The Huskies are ranked 4th in the nation and a low effort outing like the Jayhawks put on tonight will mean a very long night for KU.
