The Rock Challboard
Recruiting Buzz following weekend UC Report Camp in Southern California
The UC Report Camp, powered by Under Armour, hit the West Coast over the weekend. Mission Viejo, Calif., was host to some of the top players in the region. Here’s some of the recruiting notes we picked up following the event.
Kansas QB Jalon Daniels 'going to be special,' teammate says
When he arrived on campus, Jalon Daniels probably wasn't anticipating the role he'd have as a freshman. Before making his first start at age 17 — in the second game of the season, no less — Daniels was behind two others on the depth chart, and he only moved up after an injury to the team's starter in the first game.
Lance Leipold sees local recruiting as 'foundation,' 'backbone' for Kansas
Things will be a little different in recruiting for Lance Leipold with Kansas football. While Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland were key areas for Leipold's staff at Buffalo, the program went far and wide to land players from all over the country — Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Canada and even France in the last three classes alone.
Kansas defensive-line transfer announces commitment to Tennessee
A veteran defensive lineman who recently entered the transfer portal announced Sunday night that he's headed to Tennessee. Former Kansas defensive tackle Da'Jon Terry posted on his Twitter account that he has committed to the Vols, adding a second experienced defensive lineman to their group of transfer additions this offseason.
Bill Self reflects on 'special' end to Marcus Garrett's Kansas career
"It was textbook," Self recalled on an episode of Hawk Talk. "[For] people that don't really understand ball — which it's hard to understand ball if you haven't played it or just been around it — but just watching it, you could say the head of the snake was cut off. ... He took a special challenge."
