Year 1 was quite the experience for Jalon Daniels. The freshman quarterback wasn't just thrown into the deep end, so to speak. He was tossed off a boat into the middle of the ocean, at least when you think of the circumstances around him.

Understanding Kansas football is not a difficult matter. It's the worst job in the Big 12, but history shows it doesn't have to be in 10 years. Will it take that long to rebuild the Jayhawks? Maybe. A decade might as well be 10 light years in sports, especially after a program burns through four different coaches unable to come close to building a winning football program, but after years learning to live in the mud, shouldn't Kansas fans just shrug their shoulders at the thought of a deliberate and patient rebuild?
