Kansas Jayhawks Basketball Predictions: UTEP Miners

The crew gets together to tell you what is going to happen tonight.

NCAA Basketball: Texas-El Paso at Arizona State Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

It's the final home game of the season, as the Kansas Jayhawks take on the UTEP Miners in Lawrence. Since this is just to be a tune-up to avoid rust before the Big 12 tournament, is there any danger of a loss here? Our crew gets together to tell you what to expect.

Kyle_Davis21: I have a feeling the predictions are going to be a lot more optimistic than on Saturday. UTEP hasn’t played a top-50 KenPom team since Arizona in early December, meanwhile Kansas will have a reprieve from the Big 12 gauntlet it’s used to. UTEP is not efficient from 2-point range and fouls a lot, which can both be amplified negatively when playing in Allen. I’m hoping Bryce Thompson and the bench can get some quality minutes in this one. Kansas 84, UTEP 61

Fizzle406: Senior day part deux will be a fun one. One last cupcake we can blow out before what might be our last postseason for a little while. Kansas 90, UTEP 69

Mike.Plank: How do you kill a Jayhawk? UTEP on it. But those days are over. Kansas 88, UTEP 62.

David: It’s weird to have one of these games in March. The kind of home non-con game where you go in just expecting to dominate an inferior opponent. The whole purpose of scheduling the game is to keep our guys keyed in during the long break before conference tournament play, so I think we’ll see the team going full throttle. I’m confident we’ll shut UTEP down, but I just don’t know that we have the ability to hit shots and rack up a ton of points on much of anyone. I’ll go with an easy, but frustratingly low scoring, victory. Kansas 70, UTEP 55

Andy Mitts: You guys are great. I really appreciate the opportunity to show my genius by being the only person to correctly pick a Kansas loss. Hear me out…

Ok, not really. I just can’t do it, even if I wanted to. Kansas rolls, and hopefully Mitch Lightfoot, Chris Teahan and more get a bunch of minutes off the bench. Kansas 97, UTEP 63
