About three months ago, back on May 30, was the last time I took a look at the 2021 recruiting class. At that point, KU had 11 verbals, which put them at #38 in the 247Sports team rankings.
Now, the Jayhawks are up to 21 verbals, including the highest-rated recruit for Kansas since recruiting rankings became a thing. Hanging on to Keon Coleman will no doubt be a tall order for Kansas coaches, but let’s see who else the Jayhawks have lined up to join the team in 2021.

This class is currently ranked #41 in the 247Sports Composite, good for fourth in the Big 12. On the surface it appears to be a very well rounded class, with at least one player at each position. The class includes five defensive backs, four offensive linemen, three defensive linemen, and two linebackers. Take note of the high-end talent coming in on the offensive side of the ball at running back and receiver.
Also of note: Seven of the 21 recruits have multiple P5 offers (other than Kansas).
Just two recruits hail from the state of Kansas. Seven are from Texas, and the rest are scattered from California to South Carolina to Florida.
I’m not sure where Kansas is in terms of scholarship numbers available for next season; per 247Sports the Jayhawks brought in 27 players last year. I believe the rule is 50 players in a two-year span(?). If so, that would put Kansas near the limit for this season, depending on what classification some of those recruits from last year have. Look for KU to pick up two to four more verbals for this class, and who knows? Maybe Les Miles has a few more tricks up his sleeve.
