NCAA Football: Coastal Carolina at Kansas Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas opens up the 2020 season with an on-again-off-again-on-again road game turned home game against the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina.

I know the first question that you just asked yourself. What the heck is a Chanticleer? Apparently, it is “a full time male classical vocal ensemble.” Hmm. That doesn’t seem right. Aha! Per Coastal’s own website, a Chanticleer “is a proud and fierce rooster who dominates the barnyard.”

So here we go, bird vs bird, part deux. (Too bad for them we aren’t playing in a barn.)

These two schools have met just once before, the disastrous 12-7 affair in Lawrence just last season.

Kansas is 73-50-7 all-time in season openers dating back to 1890.

KU is 5-2 in games played against Sun Belt Conference opponents.

Here are the essentials:

The Numbers

Coastal Carolina: 0-0, 0-0

Kansas: 0-0, 0-0

Line: KU -6.5
