KU football has an interesting plan in these days of social distancing.

Last year saw the first edition of KU Football’s “Late Night Under the Lights,” and it was actually pretty crazy. There was a scrimmage, tons of recruits, an Easter egg hunt for the kiddos, and yeah, Rick Ross had Les Miles up on stage with him.

This year, there will be none of that. Instead, KU Athletics has announced that football coaches will compete in various “minute to win it” competitions on social media. The link given by the university is to the Twitter page (@KU_Football), so it doesn’t appear as if it will be live on Facebook, Instagram, or whatever else the kids are using these days.

The competition begins at 7 PM Jayhawk time, and whoever has the most points at the end of the challenges will be crowned the champion. It’s the offensive coaches vs the defensive coaches, and it will be broadcast by Brian Hanni and David Lawrence.

Additionally, Fox 4 in Kansas City and Fox 43 in Topeka will re-broadcast the 2008 Orange Bowl at 2 PM Jayhawk time on Saturday, April 18. We’ll likely have an open thread for that event.
