The Kansas Jayhawks host a Tyrese Haliburton-less Iowa State Cyclones team tonight on Big Monday, with Marcus Morris coming back for a jersey retirement. Despite all the issues that Iowa State has had, the win over Texas at least gives them life. Is there any chance they can come in and steal a huge win?
Take a look at what our staff thinks, and then leave your own prediction in the comments below.
Fizzle406: Kansas isn’t going to lose on the night they retire one of my all time favorite Jayhawk’s jersey. I expect a mauling. Maybe Chris Teahan can throw a couple elbows in garbage time in honor of Marcus. Kansas 77, ISU 60
Kyle_Davis21: Iowa State made a statement in its first game without Haliburton in the thrashing of Texas but Texas is terrible and I feel comfortable that the Cyclones will not shoot 57% from 2 against this KU defense like they did Saturday. Meanwhile, KU should have no problem scoring and putting on a show for Marcus Morris and the other NBA Jayhawks in attendance. Kansas 79, Iowa State 63
dnoll5: I’m going to the game tonight, so they better not lose. I’m confident that the boys will get it done. Kansas 80, ISU 65.
David: Iowa State has lost its six Big 12 road games by an average of nearly 14 points. They’re the worst defense in the conference and it’s not close. Unless KU comes out incredibly flat, there’s no reason for this to be competitive, especially with Tyrese Haliburton out. Kansas 74, Iowa State 58
Mike.Plank: David nailed it, but I don’t think he gave Kansas enough credit. Look for the Jayhawks to make a statement tonight. Oklahoma put 90+ on these clowns less than a week ago. Kansas 95, Iowa State 59.
Brendan: I know Iowa State knocked off Texas, but like Kyle said, Texas is extremely not good. Iowa State is no good either, KU is the best team in the country and I don’t know what the Cyclones are going to do to stop the Jayhawks tonight. I’m expecting multiple walk-on minutes at the end of this one. Kansas 85, Iowa State 63
Andy Mitts: It’s tough to imagine what Iowa State can do consistently well enough to compete in this game. Sure they have guys that CAN get hot from outside, but they haven’t faced a backcourt defense as dangerous as the Devon Dotson - Marcus Garrett tandem. They can do some damage inside, but Udoka Azubuike is a challenge they can’t match well. I’m guessing that Iowa State claws some points back at the end of the game, but don’t be surprised if Kansas is up 35+ at some point before calling off the attack. Kansas 91, Iowa State 69.
