Three-star 2022 safety Caldra Williford commits to Kansas
KU football added another prospect to its class of 2022 on Thursday night. Caldra Williford, a three-star safety from Lutheran North HS in St. Louis, Mo., announced his commitment to the Jayhawks via Twitter.

Their big guy [6-8, 240-pound Matt Pile] can play. He’s a load. You can’t move him. He’s skilled offensively. And [Marlon] Ruffin — the guy [who] came off the bench I believe last year for them and was sixth man of the year in their league — he can score the ball. They’ve got guys that can shoot it and everything."

Kansas: “We just been getting to know each other and because they said as far as it goes for basketball we’re straight. They like my game and my play making so right now it's just building a relationship with them. My relationship with the staff has been good. They actually talk to me, my mom, and my trainer about once a week so it's been good. I like how they produce a lot of good guards and develop them. They changed Devonte Graham and got him much better just playing in that system.”

Beyond the on-court product, Self also acknowledged that programs are asking a lot of their players in creating bubble-like environments and asking them to stay in at all times. For that, he said the program has decided to allow players to go back home for Christmas, even though it technically may not be the "safest thing for today."

"I think it's better for long-term," Self said.
