CBS Sports predicts 2020-21 Big 12 basketball
Like with the coaches' poll, Baylor guard Jared Butler was the pick for the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year. He's one of just two players returning to college basketball who received at least one All-America vote from the sources that vote on consensus honors. Unsurprisingly, Baylor coach Scott Drew joined Butler on the honor squad; if the Bears capture the Big 12 title, Drew is likely to collect plenty of national honors along with conference coach of the year honors. Cade Cunningham was the pick as the Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year, an honor he should cruise to if he meets his lofty expectations.

How KU basketball's Mitch Lightfoot used redshirt season
"For me, I think it was just learning from our coaches, learning from guys on the team, ex players, stuff like that," Lightfoot said. "Being able to develop, maybe score the basketball a little bit better than I had in the past, shoot the basketball a little bit better than I had in the past. Growing as a person as well is something I took away from that."
