The Rock Chalkboard

CBS Sports predicts 2020-21 Big 12 basketball
Like with the coaches' poll, Baylor guard Jared Butler was the pick for the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year. He's one of just two players returning to college basketball who received at least one All-America vote from the sources that vote on consensus honors. Unsurprisingly, Baylor coach Scott Drew joined Butler on the honor squad; if the Bears capture the Big 12 title, Drew is likely to collect plenty of national honors along with conference coach of the year honors. Cade Cunningham was the pick as the Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year, an honor he should cruise to if he meets his lofty expectations.

'That's my brother': DaJon Terry, Marcus Harris share close bond
“I think they are doing a great job,” Les Miles said. “Marcus Harris makes some big, athletic plays. [And] if you’re planning on playing a center, you’re going to want to watch [Terry’s] film because he’s a pretty talented guy.”

How KU basketball's Mitch Lightfoot used redshirt season
"For me, I think it was just learning from our coaches, learning from guys on the team, ex players, stuff like that," Lightfoot said. "Being able to develop, maybe score the basketball a little bit better than I had in the past, shoot the basketball a little bit better than I had in the past. Growing as a person as well is something I took away from that."

Dodgers' Mookie Betts headlines Gold Glove winners with fifth straight
After Mookie Betts made spectacular play after spectacular play in the postseason -- including two home run robberies and a key catch of a sinking liner in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series -- it should come as no surprise that Betts is the NL Gold Glove winner for right field.

NFL trade deadline winners and losers - Avery Williamson lands on a contender; no receiver help for Aaron Rodgers
That said, there was a decent amount of activity over the past week, and that counts as trade-deadline movement. So as we like to do when we reach these types of mileposts on the NFL calendar, we're breaking down some winners and losers.

Vedder shrugged off the radio host’s suggestion – “I probably could have agreed with some of the things he said,” he laughed - but did point out that the phenomenal success which both bands enjoyed following the release of Ten and Nevermind was “a little hard to handle”, noting, “we had a little bit of a difficult relationship with that reality… and that made us a little vulnerable.”
