Jayhawks Mauled By Hawkeyes

NCAA Football: Iowa State at Kansas Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

First, in case you're new around here, the headline is not a typo. Iowa State University's mascot is famously the Hawkeye:

Still don't believe me? Tommy Tuberville agrees, and he's about to be a senator. That's only because the state of Alabama sucks, but I digress.

Oh, you wanted a recap of the football game? It started like any other KU football game. Before we were even halfway into the 1st quarter, Iowa State was up 13-0. It stayed that way for a while before the offense came up with a surprising show of competence, with a deep ball to Luke Grimm setting up a touchdown to make it 13-7. ISU answered quickly, and a last second KU field goal attempt into the wind was no good. 20-7 ISU at halftime.

The Hawkeyes were able to add to their lead in the 3rd, despite a Kenny Logan kick return for a touchdown, heading into the 4th with the game well in hand, up 35-14.

The Kansas offense would add one touchdown in the 4th quarter, but couldn't stop ISU and ultimately fell 52-22. The Jayhawks fall to 0-6 for the year, while Iowa State improves to 4-2.
