Jeff Long hopeful Kansas fans will follow stadium COVID policies
Baylor's efforts at implementing social distancing and mask-wearing policies for its season opener — a 47-14 win over Kansas football — were about as successful as the Baylor basketball team's quest to hold off the Jayhawks in last year's Big 12 title race.
Kansas O-line talks improvement at Baylor, hopes for OSU contest
In the opener, a 38-23 loss to Coastal Carolina, the Jayhawks allowed 12 tackles for loss, as well as five sacks. Kansas recorded three turnovers, though none necessarily on the offensive line, and made life difficult for a quarterback group that finished 21-for-35 passing with 189 yards, two touchdowns and two picks.
Kansas players excited for fans to return to Memorial Stadium
After averaging some 34,000 fans per game last year — a significant increase from the 2018 average of just over 19,000 — the Jayhawks opted to keep fans out of the stadium for their 2020 season opener. That will change on Saturday, as the program will be allowing 10,000 fans — 1,000 students and around 9,000 season-ticket holders — in the stadium for the upcoming contest, a 2:30 p.m. showdown with Oklahoma State on ESPN.
Preview: Kansas football looks to slow down Chuba Hubbard, OSU
During the 10-game losing streak, Kansas has lost by an average margin of 27.6 points. The closest game between the two teams came in 2012, as the Jayhawks fell 20-14 in Stillwater. The Jayhawks also fell by seven to a ranked Oklahoma State squad in 2014.

"We're not jealous of each other. I think that's the best thing," James said before Thursday's practice, preparing for Game 2 of the Finals against the Miami Heat (Friday, 9 p.m. ET, ABC). "In professional sports, you have guys that join forces -- you can call them alpha males. That's what they call them. Two guys that have been dominant in a specific sport on their own respective teams, and they get together and they talk about how dominant they can be and they talk about this is going to be this and that. I believe jealousy creeps in a lot. And that is the absolute contrary of what we are.
Los Angeles Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw has 13 K's to take out Milwaukee Brewers
Clayton Kershaw's 3-1 slider to Luis Urias sailed high, a rare mistake by the distinguished left-hander. It was the eighth inning, there was one out, the Dodgers led by three, and Kershaw's pitch count was up to 88. He looked toward the third-base dugout, made eye contact with manager Dave Roberts and implored him to stay where he was. Roberts sent pitching coach Mark Prior to the mound instead then watched Kershaw pick off Urias and strike out the next batter, David Freitas, on five pitches to end his outing appropriately.
