Mitch Lightfoot opens up on redshirt year, current role with KU
The senior is taking a redshirt this season after he contributed in his first three years at KU. A crowded frontcourt with the likes of Udoka Azubuike, David McCormack and Silvio De Sousa could have made playing time hard to come by for Lightfoot this year, so he’s preserving his final year of eligibility for the 2020-2021 season.

247Sports' college basketball All-Decade team
Likely to be the only full decade to enjoy the one-and-done rule, experienced teams fared well early in the season, only to have a young 2012 Kentucky disrupt the order a bit, followed by 2015 Duke. Analytics were everywhere, and the decade saw teams start to truly take advantage of the 3-point line, to the extent that 2018 Villanova largely made a mockery of the short distance, and eventually resulting in college basketball electing to move the line back.

Christian Braun emerging as 'key' KU basketball bench performer
The Jayhawks are already down one freshman in wing Jalen Wilson, who injured his ankle early in the year and had surgery that will hold him out at least a few months. Wilson, a four-star prospect, may not return this season and could take a redshirt

Seth Greenberg predicts Bill Self leaves Kansas for Spurs
“My boldest prediction for 2020 is Bill Self to San Antonio,” Greenberg said during Wednesday’s appearance on ESPN's Get Up!. “He’s a great offensive coach, a great defensive coach, knows how to connect players and solves problems. I could see him making a seamless transition. There’s a connection there and I could see Popovich stepping down, saying, ‘You know what? Its your team.’ He can (hand) it over and handle personnel."

Dick Vitale picks classic Kansas win among best games of decade
Vitale listed the Kansas game third, behind Virginia's win over Auburn from last season's Final Four and Villanova's last-second victory over North Carolina in the 2017 national championship game. Duke's 2010 national championship game win over Butler and Kentucky's Elite Eight win over Notre Dame in 2015 rounded out the top five. Of Kansas' victory, Vitale wrote that, "Malik Newman was special in the Duke-Kansas Elite Eight showdown, scoring 32 points in an overtime win."

Marcus Garrett (ankle) felt no limitations playing at Stanford
The KU basketball junior and the team's top defender according to coach Bill Self played 30 minutes in KU basketball's 72-56 win over Stanford. He scored 12 points while adding five rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal. He committed four fouls and three turnovers in his outing.

Baylor QB Charlie Brewer evaluated for neck injury after Sugar Bowl exit
"They told me as I came in here that they were checking his neck, you know, C-spine," Baylor coach Matt Rhule said. "They said he cleared the C-spine just now. But that's what they were concerned about was his neck. He didn't exhibit any head symptoms, but I'm sure they'll continue to monitor him, though, after this and throughout the night just to make sure."
