FanPulse Top 25 Week 5: No Need To Win

New, 8 comments

The poll defies all logic.

It's that time again. Time for the latest edition of the SB Nation CFB Top 25. It's still possible to sign up and let your voice be heard.

The first part of the FanPulse survey was the approval rating for the Kansas Jayhawks. After the blowout at TCU, we not only saw the level drop, but participation dropped far enough that we no longer have a graphic of our own. Instead, I just get to tell you that the approval rating dropped back down to 75%, which isn’t as far as I thought it would drop.

Disagree with that assessment of the program? Then sign up for the survey, and you can join in determining that percentage for next week.

A new part of the survey this week was a question about which college program was going to fire their coach first. The poll got it wrong, as Rutgers already fired their coach, but the graphic for that question is below.

As a reminder, once we reach 50 sign ups, we'll get our own version of the Top 25.

And now, without further ado, here are the rankings after Week 5.

Other teams receiving votes: Kansas State, Wake Forest, SMU, Oklahoma State, Army

Until we have enough people signed up to get our own poll, I'll look for one other fanbase to highlight. I'm a bit partial to fans that are fairly reasonable, so I went in search of a fanbase that ranked their own team lower than the national ranking. Last week we had 3 teams that fit the bill, but I couldn’t find a single one this week. The closest I came this week was with Bring On The Cats, who didn’t feel that Kansas State should be ranked this week.

Congrats on not being total homers!

This week’s poll is nonsensical. Cal and Virginia both lost, but moved up several spots in the rankings. Michigan State, Texas A&M and Utah all won, but dropped multiple spots. It’s almost as if people just threw names at the wall for the last 10 or so spots.

These rankings will be updated every week, and it isn't too late to be a part of them. Sign up here!
