Les Miles just scored big on the recruiting trail.

Brennon Scott, a 4-star linebacker out of Dallas, TX, gave his verbal commit to Kansas via Twitter on Tuesday evening. Nationally, Scott is a consensus top-25 LB and top 350 recruit. He chose Kansas out of a top five that included Texas, Auburn, USC, and Oregon. In total, he had nearly three dozen FBS offers, including 10 SEC schools, 5 PAC-12 schools, 6 Big-10 schools, and 4 other Big-12 schools.

The lead recruiter for Scott was new KU receivers coach Emmett Jones. Based on interviews available on Rivals and elsewhere, it appears as if Scott was looking for a place where he could play earlier rather than later. Judging by the current linebacker situation at Kansas, that definitely appears to be the case.

Scott becomes the 23rd verbal commit for KU’s 2020 class. The class is now ranked 34th nationally by 247Sports and 28th nationally by Rivals.

All of these commits are, of course, currently non-binding. The early-signing period for college football this year is December 18-20.
