Miles was quick to address the situation at media day, speaking about the suspension in his opening comment. Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby also spoke on the Williams suspension, noting he believed KU followed proper protocol and that the suspension was decided independent of the coaches. The Kansas City Star's Jesse Newell reported that KU athletic director Jeff Long was the one who came up with the decision for a one-game suspension, and Miles seemed to echo that comment.
