Kansas Football Recruiting: CB, OL commit to KU

The Jayhawks are coming.

NCAA Football: Texas at Kansas Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

A big recruiting weekend for Kansas has kicked off in a big way as Scott Chasen at 247Sports and Benton Smith at KUSports.com are reporting that JaCobee Bryant, a CB out of Alabama, has verbally committed to Kansas, per his high school coach.

Bryant has a plethora of P5 offers, including Nebraska, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Indiana, Purdue, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Bryant is rated as a three-star by Rivals and in the 247 Composite. (He is a four-star in the Top247, whatever that means.)

Kansas also picked up a recruit along the offensive line, as Garrett Jones out of Michigan also gave Les Miles his verbal on Friday night. So far, Jones has a couple of MAC offers as well as Air Force, and is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals. 247Sports has Jones as a two-star.

The 2020 Class for Les Miles is currently at 14 verbal commits and ranked in the top-40 at both Rivals and 247Sports. Some of that is due to sheer numbers, as KU is currently tied with K-State with the most verbal commits in the Big 12 for next year at 14. Considering the scholarship situation, I don’t expect the Jayhawks to be able to add very many more, although there are probably still a few more spots available.

It’s conceivable that if things go well the rest of this weekend, KU’s 2020 class could be mostly set.
