97 Days Until Kansas Football: “Hawks and Highways” Outreach Program

While maybe not 100% football related, Kansas Athletics is reaching out across the state to alumni and fans.

A series of nine events around the state of Kansas with appearances by Jeff Long and coaches from various programs has been scheduled as what has been dubbed as the “Hawks and Highways” outreach program. Les Miles will headline four of the events.

According to the original release, this year’s Hawks and Highways will also include “academic entities and departments at KU.” So, it’s not just a football-only drive, although I’m guessing they’ll offer the opportunity to buy season tickets.

It’s not a recruiting push. Instead, it’s more of a happy hour type setting. Alumni, fans, friends, and anyone else can show up, grab a table, get a drink, and listen to representatives of the athletic department talk about what’s going on at the University. There’s typically a few minutes at the end where University representatives will take questions from attendees as well.

I would anticipate Jeff Long would be at most if not all of these events, but it’s not clear based on the current information available. Click here for a link of the full schedule. Two of the events have already passed, but there are seven more coming up in June. Les Miles will be in Salina on June 11, and in Wichita on June 25.
