Kansas senior LaGerald Vick is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the basketball team.
Very little information is available as to the reason for this break. From the University of Kansas press release:
“Lagerald has some personal matters that require his immediate attention and he will be taking a leave of absence from our team,” Self said in a statement. “During this time, we will respect Lagerald’s privacy. There is no timetable for his return.”
UPDATE: Vick’s mom, La La Vick, told several local news outlets that Lagerald would be returning to Memphis.
“We need him here for a couple weeks,” La La Vick told The Kansas City Star. “I need him. There’s a lot going on. It’ll work out.”
With Udoka Azubuike and Silvio de Sousa out for the season, it appears as if Vick will miss most if not all of the rest of his senior season, further depleting the Kansas roster.
However, this is a good time to remind everyone that there are more important things than basketball out there, and hopefully everything works out for the Vick family.
