Kansas Football adds to 2020 class

Jayhawks pick up their first two commitments for next year’s class.

A couple of recruits in town for this past weekend’s “Junior Days” have announced on Twitter that they have accepted scholarship offers to play football for Les Miles at Kansas.

The first to commit was WR Keenan Hambrick. A 6’4” 190 lb three-star prospect out of Athens, AL, JayhawkSlant reports that what sold Hambrick on KU was the fact that Les Miles has a good track record of sending players to the NFL. Hambrick has competing offers from Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Liberty, and South Alabama, and was reportedly beginning to pick up some interest from Auburn.

Also committing over the weekend was TE Trevor Kardell. Kardell, 6’6” 210 lbs, is not currently rated by Rivals (or 247Sports). Out of Lee’s Summit, MO, Kardell both decommitted from Missouri and committed to KU in the same tweet (smart kid). He also reportedly had some interest from Iowa. A two-sport star, Kardell will come to KU on a football scholarship but will also play baseball in the spring. His “primary position” is catcher, but he also has an 88+ mph fastball that may come in handy.

Reminder that these are non-binding verbal commits. While not on the excitement level of a Corione Harris or Pooka Williams commit (both of whom were Rivals Top 200 players), this appears to be a good start for the 2020 class, and I’m excited to see what Les Miles can do over the next 10 months.
