KU looking to replicate defensive performance vs. Texas Tech
Saturday, the Jayhawks will travel to Lubbock to take on a Texas Tech squad that is averaging 78 points per game since its loss to KU. (Bill Self did say that he expects Garrett to play after the sophomore missed the past five games with a high ankle sprain.)

A former standout running back and linebacker at Lawrence High in the mid-1990s, Thoren went on to star as a linebacker at the University of Kansas, where he earned various all-Big Eight and all-Big 12 honors from 1994-97.
KU’s Self would gladly accept repeat of last year’s performance at Texas Tech
“That’s when Devonté locked up player of the year in the league. He was great. That (game) clinched the league for us,” KU coach Bill Self said this week in recalling the No. 8-ranked Jayhawks’ 74-72 victory over the No. 6 Red Raiders on Feb. 24, 2018 at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas.
What Bill Self needs to see from Marcus Garrett before Saturday
"I can tell you right now, my decision is that is he going to be available,” said Self. “Now whether or not I play him or not, I don't know. It will be a game-time decision on his usage, but it won't be a game-time decision on whether he suits up. At least that's how I see it right now."
Kansas looks to avoid road turnover plague
All season, Kansas has been awful at protecting the ball on the road, and while TCU represented a pretty large step forward, the Jayhawks will be tested in a major way Saturday when Kansas heads to Texas Tech with a potential Big 12 title on the line. Perhaps just as importantly for the Jayhawks’ chances at a run in March, Kansas will need to show TCU — the Jayhawks’ first Big 12 road game this year with a turnover rate below 20 percent — isn’t a fluke, and that Kansas can protect the ball away from the friendly confines of Allen Fieldhouse.
