Kansas Cruises Past Colorado

NCAA Basketball: Colorado at Kansas Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas advanced to 7-1 on the year tonight after fending off former Big 8 foe Colorado. The key to the first half was defense as neither team shot well, but the Buffaloes were kept especially well in-check. CU's leading scorer, Tyler Bey, didn't take a shot until the final two minutes of the half, and it took until the 1:06 mark for them to hit 20 points as a team. Unfortunately, an 0-6 performance from outside somewhat limited the Jayhawks' offense, who nonetheless took a healthy 34-22 lead into the locker room.

The defense stayed salty in the second half, while the offense, and outside shooting especially, picked up. After going 0-6 from deep in the first half, the Jayhawks shot 6-7 as this slowly transformed from a solid lead to more of a rout. The Jayhawks would ultimately end with a 72-58 victory.

Ochai Agbaji had himself a career day with 20 points and 12 boards, hitting 4-6 from deep. Azubuike was quiet by his standards, scoring 12 and pulling down six boards. Devon Dotson did what we've come to effect, scoring 18 with six assists and two steals. Up next for Kansas is a Tuesday night matchup with UW-Milwaukee at 7pm Jayhawk Time. The Panthers are 5-4 but ranked just 235th by KenPom.
