Colorado heads to Lawrence for what is the first game of a home-and-home non-conference matchup. Interestingly, even though Jeff Long scheduled this series, for some reason Kansas doesn’t have to play two games in Boulder and two games in Denver to get two games in Lawrence.
Weird.
Anwyay, Kansas is the #2 team in the country in the AP Poll, while Colorado comes in at #20. KenPom currently has KU at #6 and Colorado at #33. The Buffaloes were picked to finish second in their conference (behind Oregon) in the PAC-12 preseason media poll, tying the Ducks with 9 first-place votes.
Kansas and Colorado obviously have an extensive history due to sharing a conference for 64-ish years. Kansas leads the all-time series 123-40, which includes 62-7 in Lawrence and 53-5 in Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas has won 46 of the last 48 meetings dating back to 1991. CU’s last win in Allen Fieldhouse came on Feb 10, 1983, a 75-74 decision.
The most recent meeting between these two programs was a 75-72 Colorado win in Boulder on December 7, 2013.
