Kansas meets up with BYU in the winners bracket of the Maui Invitational. Whoever takes this game will play for the tournament title on Wednesday.
Kansas is the #4 team in the country in the AP Poll, while BYU comes in unranked. KenPom currently has KU at #8 and BYU at #68. (For reference, East Tennessee State was ranked #69 when KU played them last week.) The Cougars were picked to finish third in their conference (behind Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s) the WCC preseason coaches poll.
Kansas and BYU have met four times previously, with the KU owning a 3-1 advantage. However, the most recent meeting was way back in March of 1993, a 90-76 Kansas win in Chicago in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
