After the first three games, we took a look at the Kansas football team’s various looks, and now we’re back for the next several.
Against West Virginia, KU wore white helmets, blue shirts, and white pants. This was the same combo that they played in against Indiana State, and guess what? It still looked good.

Next, Kansas traveled to TCU where they embarrassed themselves as far as the performance on the field went, but looked absolutely glorious as far as uniforms go. I am a huge proponent of blue in the program, and the blue helmet, white shirt, blue pants road combo is the best that KU can look away from home. This look is a winner even if the game sucked.

KU hosted Oklahoma in the next game and went classic Mangino (or classic New York Giants if you’d rather) by pairing the blue helmet and shirt with the grey pants. This is a look that many of the KU faithful think is the best home look for the Jayhawks, and I cannot disagree. This combination just looks like football to me, and if you disagree, you’re just wrong. Sorry. This is KU’s best uniform combination right now.

KU then went on the road and almost beat Texas. That would’ve been something, but another something is the fact that KU debuted a completely new uniform combination in this game. I’ve been tracking KU uniforms since 2014 on this site and I even did some historical pieces about basketball and football, and to the best of my knowledge, this was the first time that the Jayhawks have worn white helmets with the white shirts and grey pants. I think it looked pretty good, just not as good as some other road combos.

And finally, in last week’s victory over Texas Tech, Kansas looked as Kansas as Kansas can look. Usually, Blue/Blue/White is the best KU can look at home. But right now, with the silver tinged numbers, I’d say that the grey pants beat this look out. When KU switches back to white numerals, this look will win.

Eight games in and they’ve stayed away from the red so far in the Les Miles era- that’s a good thing. Kansas has four more games, and we’ll see if they break out any new combos this season.
