Notebook: Jeff Long to be introduced at news conference today

I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Kansas vs UC Davis Brett Rojo-USA TODAY Sports

In today’s UnTaited news and notes...

Mr. Tait comes to us with yet another hard-hitting piece, reporting that KJ Lawson is mature and confident. He also writes about the KU subpoena thing that Yahoo Sports tried to blow up yesterday. Tait basically says everything y’all did in the comments yesterday, such as being subpoenaed does not imply guilt, etc. However, he did NOT set up any outs for himself on where his sources come from, so who knows if what he’s saying is hearsay or not?

Jeff Long doesn’t officially start as AD until August 1, but will be formally introduced at a news conference today at 11 AM. You can watch the news conference live at this same link.

Gary Bedore at the Star reports that Long has a personality similar to Bill Self.

Juco transfer and Baltimore native Jeremiah McCullough followed Fish Smithson’s path to KU almost exactly, but didn’t realize it until he received a phone call from the former Jayhawk.

JayhawkSlant reports that OL Hakeem Adeniji is over 300 lbs and fully healthy.

A different article was linked in the comments yesterday, but Mark Mangino is upset about some of his guys continuing to miss out on the Ring of Honor at Memorial Stadium.

Jesse Newell tries to figure out whose minutes the return of Lagerald Vick will affect the most.

Scott Chasen’s countdown of the top-20 wins of the Bill Self era is down to #4, this past year’s game against Duke in the Elite 8 in Omaha.

In other news...

France is in the World Cup final. England takes on Croatia today for the other spot.

The Astros walked off in extra innings on a grounder that went all of two feet.
