The updated Kansas football roster has been released, and Benton Smith at the KUSports.com is reporting that last year’s starting center, Mesa Ribordy, has left the team due to a medical condition. Additionally, DE Isaiah Bean has left the team as well, also due to a medical condition.
Ribordy was arguably KU’s most important offensive lineman last year. He started 10 of 12 games, and the two games he didn’t start, Iowa State and TCU, saw KU’s two worst offensive performances of the season.
Bean was projected to make an impact on the defensive line this year and make a run at a starting spot with Dorance Armstrong off early to the NFL.
Smith also reports that Antonio Cole and Justin Williams have had to leave the team due to medical conditions as well.
Highly regarded recruit Ian Peterson did not appear on the roster either, along with Kashe Boatner, Lucas Jacobs, Moses Marshall IV, and Ryan Renick, all of whom Smith reports have “left the program.”
Needless to say, the losses of Ribordy and Bean are huge blows to the trenches on a KU team that needs all the talent it can get. However, these guys have to do what’s best for their health and look forward to a healthy future, even if it doesn’t involve football.
