David Beaty talks about the gems of his recruiting class in Corione Harris, Anthony Williams, and Kenny Bastida.
One sentence from David Beaty on each of KU’s 2018 recruits.
Tom Keegan questions David Beaty’s number of Juco recruits over the past two years, calling out Beaty’s double-speak about building the program “the right way.”
Beaty is adamant that the number of Juco recruits won’t perpetuate the numbers problem that he inherited. I do not agree with this take.
Jesse Newell says Beaty’s reliance on Juco players can be an indictment on the staff of their inability to develop high school talent. Obviously, this is a take I completely agree with.
Free State’s Jalen Robinson, who was originally offered a preferred walk-on spot at KU before Nebraska and Mississippi State came calling with full rides, was offered a full scholarship by KU on Tuesday. (KU Coaches really blew this one.) However, Robinson opted to delay signing, choosing to take his time and set up more visits, possibly including Oklahoma.
JayhawkSlant says OL Jacobi Lott is KU’s biggest steal of the 2018 class. The Amarillo, TX recruit stayed committed to KU even after Texas came calling, saying he wanted to show KU the same loyalty that the coaches originally showed him.
Jon Kirby reports that Beaty’s class can be expected to finish in the top-50, and that KU benefitted from the December signing period in a big way.
You may have noticed that KU listed a 4’10” 71 lb receiver on its list of recruits. That wasn’t a typo, but rather KU coming together with Team Impact to support children with chronic illnesses. Now THIS is a signing I fully support.
Just two Jayhawks made a three pointer against TCU. Can you name them?
The newest hot prospect in college basketball, KC’s Ochai Agbaji, is set to announce his college choice today at 2 PM.
Yesterday was national signing day for programs other than football. The Kansas women’s soccer team added nine players to its roster yesterday.
The KU softball team opens the 2018 season this coming weekend in Florida. KU was picked to finish 5th in the 7-team Big 12 by the coaches.
In other news...
Last year, only one of the top nine recruits in the state of Texas stayed in-state. This year, that ratio has completely flipped over.
Johnny Maziel has been told to stop tweeting at Texas A&M recruits.
K-State beat Texas in Austin last night. I know, right?
In case you don’t have ESPN, just so you’re aware, Duke and North Carolina play each other tonight.
UNC’s Joel Berry says NC State isn’t a rival - Carolina’s only rival is Duke.
A few days after beating Duke, St. John’s went out and beat #1 Villanova to move to 1-11 in the Big East. Don’t worry, ‘Nova, losing to St. John’s isn’t a cause for concern, after all, it was just one bad shooting night.
#3 Purdue also went down last night (at home!), putting Ohio State all alone at the top of the Big 10.
A Central Arkansas player got a triple-double without recording an assist.
I forgot to do Poll Attacks to Tuesday!
The Seattle Seahawks have traded Russell Wilson to... the New York Yankees?
