Kansas sneaks past TCU

NCAA Basketball: Texas Christian at Kansas Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Many expected the Jayhawks to come out firing on all cylinders after an embarrassing loss to Oklahoma State Saturday. While Kansas did scratch out the win at home, it was yet another tough game where victory was anything but certain.

Kansas and TCU were fairly even through one half, with TCU leading by one to two possessions most of the way. TCU made seven of their first 11 threes, boosting them to a 36-34 lead at the intermission.

The two teams again went back and forth for much of the second half, with KU keeping TCU at arm's length down the stretch, winning 71-64.

Devonte Graham scored a game high 24, to go with six rebounds and four assists. Udoka Azubuike made his presence known with 16 points, 11 boards and two blocks. Following Lagerald Vick's tongue lashing and benching Monday, the junior still played 29 minutes, while showing little sign of turning around his recent slump. He scored ten on nine shots, grabbing a single rebound. Mitch Lightfoot started in his place, logging a career high 22 minutes, scoring four points, grabbing four boards, and blocking two shots.

Kansas temporarily has a half game lead atop the conference standings at 8-3. They go on the road to play Baylor Saturday.
