Bill Self very publicly and very obviously called out several players in his presser yesterday, saying he was taking Lagerald VIck out of the starting lineup long-term. Self also said that Udoka Azubuike was not playing “to what he is, and that is the biggest guy on the floor most every night” while referring to Udoka’s rebounding.

Self specifically praised the attitude and effort of Graham, Svi, and Lightfoot.

Jesse Newell writes that what makes Bill Self so good is that he knows how to adapt his coaching style to motivate each individual player, but benching Vick appears to be a hail mary by a coach out of ideas.

Kansas hosts TCU tonight in Lawrence, and Matt Tait breaks down the game for you.

Tomorrow is the traditional national signing day for college football recruits. You can follow it live with David Beaty on the Jayhawk TV Network and ESPN3 starting at Noon.

Another day, another Juco recruit for David Beaty. At least this one is an offensive lineman. Reuben Lewis chose KU over ECU, New Mexico, and West Virginia.

Kansas City, MO Park Hill HS quarterback Billy Maples will walk-on to the KU football team this fall.

In other news...

The narrative around college basketball is that there aren’t any great teams this year. Purdue, Virginia, and Villanova beg to differ, and to this point in the season, the advanced stats seem to back them up pretty well. #NerdAlert

West Virginia went into Norman and beat Oklahoma last night.

And... that’s about all that caught my eye this morning.
