Kansas Jayhawks Basketball Predictions: Oklahoma Sooners

Can the Jayhawks take a half-game lead in the Big 12 with a victory tonight?

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-CSU Bakersfield vs Oklahoma Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas Jayhawks won again in thrilling fashion against West Virginia, and their reward is a date on a quick turnaround with Trae Young and the Oklahoma Sooners. Can KU celebrate the return of Sherron Collins for his jersey retirement by preventing a Sooner rebound?

Fizzle406: I really don’t know. It’s so hard to make any predictions with this team. The only thing I can say definitively is that Trae Young is 1000% guaranteed to break out of his shooting slump tonight. I think that will be enough to bring OU to victory. Oklahoma 76, Kansas 69

dnoll5: Nope. Kansas and the refs that they will be handsomely paying off tonight will get the job done. Watch as Oklahoma and Trae Young continue to shoot three after three after three, and yet Kansas will get all the foul calls. That’s money being put to good use right there. When Young haphazardly chucks the ball out of bounds on a no-look behind the back left handed spin move, please remember, that’s all about referee bias in favor of Kansas; there should’ve been a foul called. When OU uses 27 seconds of the shot clock passing the ball on the perimeter and then settles for a 12 foot jumper and no foul is called, please remember where you heard it first. No you didn’t hear it first here, you heard it from the crybabies at K-State, Iowa State, and West Virginia, because it never comes down to Kansas having more talent than those powerhouses, it’s all about the refereeing. Anyway, Kansas 88, Oklahoma 70 (Young 50).

Kyle_Davis21: Oklahoma’s defense is bad. As in 95th in Kenpom bad. Kansas should be able to get about any shot it wants, and will only struggle with a disastrous shooting night. Shoutout to Jesse Newell on Twitter for the stat that no Big 12 opponent has swept Kansas in the regular season with Bill Self as the head coach. Unless Oklahoma hits 15 threes and the Jayhawks go ice cold, I don’t see that streak ending tonight. Kansas 82, Oklahoma 75

David: Trae Young will go a perfect 31-31 from the field. Udoka Azubuike will miss all 26 of his free throw attempts. All is lost. Eat Arby’s. Oklahoma 89, Kansas 64

Mike.Plank: Mmmm, Arby’s…. Wait, what? Oh yeah, prediction time. Well since OU has lost five in a row and 8 of 10, it’s time for Trae Young to get a standing O from Dickie V on Big Monday, right? So it’s Young’s three pointers against KU’s free throws. I got the Sooners in this one. Young puts up 40 points with 15 assists, just enough to top KU shooting 60-for-75 from the free throw line because refs. Oklahoma 85, Kansas 80.

Andy Mitts: Arby’s sounds really good right now. But I don’t know that I’m looking forward to this game. There are just too many ways that this game can go wrong. But given the fact that Bill Self has yet to be swept by an opponent that he played more than once, I can’t actually believe they are going to lose this game. If Kansas could win the Buddy Hield game, they can win this game against Trae Young. Devonte’ Graham puts on a show worthy of the guy he shares a number with, and Kansas pulls away at the end to seal this one late. Kansas 97, Oklahoma 82.
