Kansas Jayhawks Basketball Predictions: Baylor Bears

Our experts try to figure out what the heck is going to happen today in Waco.

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Baylor vs New Mexico State Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

As we talked about in the podcast, the Kansas Jayhawks just seem to play better on the road than they do at home. So with the team traveling to Waco, TX to take on the Baylor Bears today, can they get it turned around and put together a strong performance today?

Fizzle406: I don’t know what to think about this Kansas team. They lose games they should win and win games i think they are going to lose. So this is basically a coin flip. The coin I literally just flipped came up heads so looks like Baylor fans will be celebrating in Waco tonight. Baylor 76, Kansas 72

Mike.Plank: What fizzle forgets is that the coin flip games are in Allen Fieldhouse, not on the road. I’m sure it will be a close game, but for some reason, this guys have a moxie on the road that they just don’t bring back home with them. Besides, do you think Devonte Graham is going to let his senior year be the year the ‘Hawks don’t win the league? Cuz I don’t. Kansas 82, Baylor 79.

dnoll5: I’m with Mike. Baylor switched from their typical zone defense last time, and it threw KU for a loop, but Kansas will be aware of it this time. I’ve gotta believe that Svi will do more than he did on Tuesday; the same goes for Malik Newman. Kansas is going to win this game, but it will be close again. Kansas 80, Baylor 77.

Kyle_Davis21: The first matchup in Lawrence was about as close as it could be from a numbers standpoint. Both teams’ two-point field goal percentage (40%) and turnovers (11) were identical, while Baylor only outrebounded Kansas by two (39 to 37). The difference was three-point shooting, which Kansas won easily (39% to 20%) despite the Jayhawks only hitting seven treys. If Kansas can keep the rebounding margin close again, I think the shooting comes back to life from guys like Svi and Malik Newman. Focus doesn’t seem to be an issue for this team on the road, and Kansas sneaks by with another close win. Kansas 75, Baylor 70

David: I don’t know how to predict anything for this Kansas team. Baylor will be held to 25% from the floor, but they’ll rebound 64% of their misses. I don’t know who, but three Kansas starters will combine for four points. Baylor 60, Kansas 58

Andy Mitts: Yeah, I’m just for whatever reason not too concerned with this game on the road. Baylor will get out to a hot start, but Kansas will show the 2-big look effectively for a while, and Graham will come out strong. Svi and Newman will bounce back, and Kansas wins by double digits. Kansas 75, Baylor 63.
