The View from Section 7

A Twitter-esque recap of the game against Iowa State.

NCAA Football: Iowa State at Kansas Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

PREGAME

Cool and cloudy, but supposed to warm up.

I don’t really wanna go.

BUT... I guess I will.

Wow quite a few ISU fans at the gate.

Flyover was a pair of T-38 jets. Cool.

FIRST QUARTER

Yup this is an ISU home game, for sure.

Ah, the comedy of errors is back.

Punt on 4th and 1.

Immediately give up long TD pass.

False start on a WR.

Bender drops the ball for a fumble.

Pass behind the LINE OF SCRIMMAGE on 3rd and 21.

Give up another big TD pass (albeit on a great play by Hakeem Butler).

Gash them with Herbert then pass and drop a wide open TD. Great.

Turnover on downs after officials didn’t call ISU offsides on 4th and 3.

Bender almost throws a pick on a swing pass.

SECOND QUARTER

Finally put a drive together running the ball and turnover on a catch and fumble.

I know this isn’t a popular opinion among Pooka fever out there but Khalil Herbert is our best RB.

A field goal before half? Beaty isn’t even trying to win the game; he just wants to avoid a shutout.

HALFTIME

Salute to Service game features the military service branches medley. Always a cool arrangement.

They honored Billy Sims and Rob Riggle earlier in the game, both of whom served in the Marine Corps.

THIRD QUARTER

“Cyclone Power” chant reverberates through Memorial Stadium after ISU goes up 27-3.

Pooka just trucked a guy, that was cool.

It feels like ISU is dominating time of possession since halftime. As they should. Don’t need yards or points, just get out of Lawrence with a win.

FOURTH QUARTER

I’m just sticking around to see how bad it can get.

Bender throws to a receiver who isn’t looking and gets picked.

Oops overturned after review. Still LMAO.

KU gets inside the 5 on a nice catch by Robinson, then throws 3 straight passes, one with Herbert out of the wildcat formation.

Herbert gets stuffed on 4th and goal from the 3.

ISU not exactly killing KU in the second half.

Kansas stopped on downs again inside the 5.

Criminy.

POSTGAME

Beaty can’t survive this, right? (Editor’s Note: Nope!)

Ah well.

Is K-State beatable?

Probably. But I guess we’ll find out next week.
