Meet the New Writer: kyle_davis21

We get to know RCT’s newest writer

Where did you grow up? What did your folks do?

I was born and grew up in the Topeka area. We lived in Topeka until I was in fifth grade, then we lived in Osage City (small town just south) through high school. My mom is the head of lending at a credit union and my dad was a mortician.

What kind of activities/hobbies did you have when you were growing up?

I’ve always loved music, both listening to and playing. I played saxophone all through school and picked up the guitar when I was 12. Sports were also a bit part of my life growing up. The great thing about going to a small school is being able to play multiple sports, and be involved in whatever else I chose. If there weren’t any games on and a guitar wasn’t around, I was probably reading.

What made you choose KU?

I actually went to Baker University (a NAIA liberal arts college just south of Lawrence – #BTID), but I’ve been a fan of KU for as long as I can remember.

How and when did you find RCT?

I have been reading and following RCT for probably a year now.

What do you do for work now? Where would you like to see your career?

I do marketing and communications for a digital marketing agency, so I write a lot. Whether it’s copywriting, corporate communications, or anything else, as long as it involves writing in some form, I’ll be happy.

What kind of things are you hoping to contribute to RCT?

I’m just looking to help whenever I’m needed. It looks like I’ll be doing a weekly Big 12 title race post, and then whatever else comes to mind.

Anything else we might not know about you or anything you’d like to add?

I’ve got an almost two-year-old son, so my life basically revolves around him now.
