The Kansas Jayhawks have had about the best week possible, and they look to finish it off when the Baylor Bears come to town today. Baylor has been a bit unlucky, but still look capable of pulling out a big win. Do they finally get that marquee resume-building win?
Kyle_Davis21: There are quite a few interesting storylines coming into this contest. Is this a trap game with Oklahoma looming on Monday? Was the West Virginia victory a turning point in the season? Can Scott Drew finally get a win at Allen Fieldhouse? Will he go into the KU locker room after the game and tell them how great they are? This is not one of Baylor’s most talented teams—although Manu Lecomte looks to have shaken off some rust coming off a 30-point outing against Oklahoma State—so it seems unlikely Scott Drew ends his losing streak in Lawrence this year. That being said, this KU team isn’t going to run away with many games. I’m going to say this is one of those games where the outcome is never really in doubt, but the score stays within single digits. Kansas 74, Baylor 67
Mike.Plank: I haven’t seen Baylor yet this year, so I don’t really know. Looking at their schedule, it seems like they’ve beat the teams they’re supposed to beat, and lost to the teams that are better than them, with the possible exception of Iowa State. This obviously isn’t a game that anyone should expect Baylor to win; that said, Kansas hasn’t exactly been invincible in Allen Fieldhouse this year. I expect another too-close-for-comfort game against a team that, let’s be honest, has no business being within 10 points of KU in Lawrence. Kansas 79, Baylor 76.
dnoll5: Man, I want that blowout/rest easy throughout the game feeling, but I don’t think we’re in line for too many more of those this season. I’ll be honest and admit that I haven’t watched Baylor at all this season, but I can already predict that a few things will happen. One, Baylor’s length will be annoying until KU figures it out. Two, Scott Drew will blow through timeouts like they’re Tic-Tacs (sidenote: is there a Tic-Tac rep out there to give us free Tic-Tacs?) but save one to the very end that he’ll fail to use in a crucial situation. Kansas 88, Baylor 78.
Fizzle406: I don’t know man. This could go either way. We’ve been feeling too happy this week. Either Kansas loses or we have a devastating injury. The sports gods don’t let you feel too good about your team for that long. Baylor 76, Kansas 69
Andy Mitts: The only thing that a lack of blowout wins hurts is a fan’s sense of confidence. The ability that this team has developed to come back from large deficits and fight through adversity will serve them well in the tournament. As for this game, Baylor’s inside presence will make things tough for KU, although they might be able to combat that by getting Udoka Azubuike and Silvio De Sousa on the floor at the same time. Ultimately, they do enough to give Scott Drew his 14th loss at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas 82, Baylor 75.
