Notebook: Kansas Basketball “monitoring” the scandal spreading across college basketball

Actually, the skies are quite cloudy today, literally and figuratively, as University of Kansas officials are “monitoring” the situation involving adidas, the FBI, and a string of arrests for fraud and corruption.

So far, KU hasn’t been implicated in the scandal.

CBS’ Dennis Dodd says this could be the biggest scandal involving college athletics since the 1950s, and could lead to a complete reboot of college sports.

Meanwhile, Rick Pitino apparently had no idea. Because of course he didn’t. It’s not even plausible deniability at this point, Rick!

Bill Self plans to meet with his players to discuss the idea of protesting during the national anthem.

On the Kentucky recruiting front, A Sea of Blue reports that Romeo Langford is likely on his way to Kansas.

The Late Night festivities are set after KU announces Lil Yachty will perform that evening in Allen Fieldhouse. The party starts at 10 AM with the Phog Festival.

David Beaty says he doesn’t give out participation trophies and doesn’t believe in moral victories.

Kevin Haskin at the Topeka Capitol-Journal writes that Kansas football needs a makeover ON the field to go along with a makeover OF the field.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Star editorial board has its head way up its ass as evidenced by one of the worst researched opinion pieces I have ever read.

And, I love it when writers that cover other college teams tell me that my program is “making progress” despite all of the evidence to the contrary.
