2017 Kansas Football Depth Chart Preview

Taking an educated(?) guess at what the depth chart will look like for the opener on Sept 2.

Now that we’ve taken a look at offense, defense, and special teams, it’s time to predict a depth chart.

It should be noted that I have not been to practice. I don’t know who is running with the 1s and 2s. This is simply my best guess based on what I’ve read.

Notes:

KU does have a couple of fullbacks listed on the roster, I assume for goal-line situations.

Kenyon Tabor, the big WR/TE hybrid from Derby, is not listed due to injury - and because I don’t know if he will settle in at TE or WR!

I think that we’ll see Chase Harrell over Ryan Schadler in most of the 3-WR sets, but Harrell has the body of an outside receiver, not a slot guy. It will be interesting to see what coaches do with him.

Word has it that Antione Frazier has been outperforming Charles Baldwin for the starting LT spot. Is that some #Motivation from the coaches?

The linebackers are a jumbled mess. Any two of those six guys could win the starting job at this point, although I feel like Joe Dineen is a lock.

Additionally, we don’t have a very good idea who will win the nickelback or second safety spot.

I’d really like to see some freshmen step up onto the two-deep, including RB Dom Williams and WR Quan Hampton.

Other players I’d like to see make jumps include LB Kyron Johnson and CB Kyle Mayberry.
