Kansas and UMKC squared off in an exhibition match Saturday afternoon in the Horejsi Center. The two squads were scheduled to play four full sets regardless of the score. KU took all four sets, 25-11, 25-12, 25-20, 25-22. Starters played the first three sets, while the fourth set featured primarily backups for both squads.

The highlight of the afternoon came right before first serve, as KU unveiled the 2016 Big 12 Champions banner.

Last year, Kansas won the Big 12 outright, a full game ahead of Texas, with a 15-1 conference record.

The Jayhawks begin the 2017 season as the #8 team in the AVCA Top 25. The season officially kicks off next Friday, August 25, with KU traveling to the Wolfpack Invitational hosted by NC State.

The first home game will be on Labor Day, Monday, Sept 4, at 1 PM against #14 Kentucky.
