Transfer Jack Whitman Commits to Kansas Basketball

William & Mary grad transfer will be eligible at Kansas next year.

NCAA Basketball: William & Mary at Duke Mark Dolejs-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas has snagged a grad transfer for the upcoming season in the form of 6-9 forward Jack Whitman, per Jeff Goodman (and many others).

I haven’t gone over the tape at this point (obviously), but statistically Whitman looks OK (tepid response but it is what it is). He made 66 percent of his twos, and ranked 7th in offensive rebounding, 3rd in block percentage, and 3rd in fouls drawn in the CAA. However, he played in just 55 percent of his team’s minutes. He might be an OK rim protector, but is likely just cover for if Bill Self decides to buy a redshirt year out of Mitch Lightfoot or if one of the backup bigs otherwise don’t perform well.

Unless my math is wrong, this fills up Kansas’s scholarship allotment for next year, which means they aren’t getting Trevon Duval and Svi Mykhailiuk has probably played his last game for Kansas (barring further transfers of course).
