After getting caught up on the baseball team, it’s also time to catch up to what’s been going on with Kansas softball.

The Jayhawks have several players among conference leaders in both hitting and pitching, so let’s start with that.

Despite hitting .350 on the season, C Jessie Roane leads the Jayhawks offensively but is somehow not among the Top 10 in the Big 12 in hitting. However, she does rank in the top 10 in hits, doubles, RBI, total bases, and slugging percentage. Overall, the Jayhawks have five players hitting .300 or higher, and rank fifth as a team in batting in the Big 12.

Pitching also ranks among the middle of the pack in the Big 12, with the Jayhawks posting the fourth-best ERA, but the second-highest batting average against (BAA). Jayhawk pitchers are right in the middle in pretty much every other team stat.

Kansas pitching is led by SP Alexis Reid, who is 11-10 in 22 starts with a 2.28 ERA. Reid leads the Big 12 in games started, inning pitched, complete games, and shutouts, and is among the Top 5 in strikeouts and wins.

The Jayhawks are 1-4 against Top 25 teams, taking 1 of 3 from #13 Baylor. KU also has Top 25 losses to #8 LSU and #14 James Madison.

Top 25 teams in the Big 12 are #11 Oklahoma and #13 Baylor, with Oklahoma State receiving votes.
