Mac Copeland, out of Wichita Collegiate High School, has offered his verbal commitment to David Beaty and the 2018 Kansas recruiting class.
Although currently unrated by any major recruiting service, Copeland is listed at 6’5”, 250 lbs, and plays both sides of the ball for the 4A school. He projects as an offensive lineman in college, likely at tackle.
Kansas was his first D1 offer, although there appears to be interest from Air Force and K-State. The interest out of K-State makes sense, as his older brother Mitch is currently a defensive tackle there, and their older brother Myles was a Wildcat from 2012-15.
Copeland was in Lawrence for the Spring Game and junior days back in 2017, and per JayhawkSlant, is excited for the future David Beaty is building in Lawrence:
Going up there and really seeing the program throughout, it showed me how great the program can be. I think they are really going to make it happen. I really like the atmosphere at KU right now.
Copeland is the eighth commitment in KU’s 2018 class, but as Jesse Newell notes, just the first from the state of Kansas.
The 2018 recruiting class is still ranked in the Top 20 of every major recruiting service.
