Previously an Auburn commit, he ultimately chose Kansas on signing day.

Bio

A teammate of fellow Juco transfer QB Peyton Bender, Octavius Matthews was a surprise pickup for Kansas on signing day. Bender, who is already on campus, stayed in touch with Matthews and was a big reason for why the top Juco RB in the country (per 247Sports) chose to come to Lawrence. At 6’2” he has great size for a running back, and his versatility will allow Kansas coaches to move Matthews around and get him in space.

Matthews visited KU along with Peyton Bender and was blown away by the facilities, calling them better than what Auburn has.

He is a junior college transfer and has two years of eligibility remaining.
