Kansas Football Recruiting Profile: Cooper Root Signs with Jayhawks

Two-way player out of Wichita will look to make an impact in the linebacking corps for KU.

NCAA Football: Kansas at Baylor Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Bio

Per KansasGridiron.com, Root is the 20th-best prospect in the state of Kansas. He played both TE and LB in high school, and as a junior was named First Team Kansas 3A All-State, Wichita All-Metro, and First Team All-League. A big senior year saw him get his first D1 scholarship offers, and this fall he’ll be looking to earn some playing time out of a linebacker corps that, while crowded, could easily see some movement in the depth chart.
